Ozcan Gazioglu has recently joined the Kreft Group where he will be undertaking a PhD in Microbiology.
Ozcan obtained his undergraduate Biology degree from Inonu University in Turkey, and then completed a Masters degree in Environmental Microbiology at the University of Oklahoma in the USA.
His work at Birmingham will examine the dynamics of antibiotic resistance in laboratory models of the gut. He will examine how plasmids that carry antibiotic resistance genes spread in the gut. This work may contribute to eGUT project that is currently being conduced in the Kreft Group
