Facilities

Our lab is situated in refurbished laboratory space and is well equipped with general research facilities plus our own lab equipment including:

Shimadzu HPLC system
Akta Explorer FPLC system
Beckman PACE Capillary Electrophoresis system
Low pressure chromatography systems
Hybaid PCR machine and hybridisation oven
Shimadzu spectrophotometer and fluorimeter
Wallac scintillation counter
Computing facilities
C elegans incubators
Zeiss Stemi 200C stereomicroscope.

Further shared technical resources on our floor include cell culture facilities; a Pharmacia BiaCore biosensor; ELISA and fluorescence plate readers.

Other resources available in the School of Biosciences to support our research include a state-of-the-art fluorescence and confocal microscopy suite; functional genomics core service; bioinformatics unit with molecular modelling facilities; cell microinjection equipment. In the School of Chemistry there are facilities for MALDI, electrospray and NMR. Recombinant growth factors, receptor proteins and cells expressing different FGFR variants are available through Prof. John Heath (School of Biosciences).

In addition, our lab has a number of active collaborations with labs in the UK (Edinburgh), Australia (Adeliade & Melbourne), USA (San Diego & Boston), Holland (Nijmegen) and Japan (Nagoya).
